What is a great (audio-only) podcast source for an 11-year-old girl?
My niece is visiting and we may go camping for a week. I approaching the idea of having an evening "radio hour" where we can listen to a serialized story suited to her age, possibly with a young adventuresome girl as the heroine. I'd love to find a source of free online podcasts that feature ongoing stories that are interesting to her. Any thinking?
(My Plan B is a book on tape, something along the lines of The Secret Garden or Pippi Longstocking).
Adventures in Odyssey! If you go to whitsend.org they enjoy every episode free on there. They are really good for that age. So go near them. And you can get them on itunes.
i agree with jocelyn around iTunes. and you don't even need an iPod to use it if you are just burning CDs. Although the audio books aren't cheap, they are good and i am rewarded with them.
Answers: I only know of one place that does "serialized audiobooks in podcast form",and that place is: Podiobooks.com. It doesn't really enjoy much of a selection though, but the podcasts are free. I'm not sure if you can actually download them though..XD. I *am* sure about audiobooks. If you're likely to spend some money, then the best place to go would be audible.com/audible.co.uk,or itunes. Some good stories feature adventurous girls are: Anne of Green Gables and Emily of New Moon. I also found two audiobooks that an 11 year old girl would probably enjoy: Something,Maybe By Elizabeth Scott and Riding Freedom by Pam Munoz Ryan. I also found two good websites which hold lots of kid-friendly podcasts:http://kids.podcast.com/ and http://authorsinyourpocket.com/site/welc…
I'm sorry if this isn't really what you need, but I hope it helps!
