What are some fun summer goings-on that I can do next to my soon to be 12 year older son?
We are trying to do something fun everyday, and we are starting to run out of ideas. We've already gone swimming, hiking, running through downtown fountains, beach, etc. Any fun, kinda quirky ideas?
If you enjoy a handheld GPS, try geocaching. Go to geocahing.com. This is also a good way to find new places to wander.
Go look at satellities. Visit http://www.heavens-above.com/ and put in your location, yo can go look at the space station, hubble, whatever. And I connote really look at it, as in as it flies overhead.
Build something, like a soda bottle rocket (google it.dozens of plans out there) or a trebuchet if you're feeling adventurous (also google).
Here is one outside the box, and it totally depends on what your son is resembling, who you know, and your community. My idea is job shadowing.
Example: If you know a police officer and your son is into stuff like that, can he budge on a ride along for a few hours? Visit to the firehall? Time with a baker? On site with a carpenter?
You only do what he enjoy or is interested in (after all, you want it to be fun) and this may be a way to explore or bring interested in possible future paths.
