Advice for a military camp counselor?
I'm working at my church's Vacation Bible School tomorrow. I'm in charge of a group of 7 kids between the ages of 4 and 10. Any advice on being contained by control while still being liked?
Me tooo! Well the VBS part. Be firm but not miserable or scary.
Talk to the kids like you are equal. No one like to be talked down to, bot even children. When you necessitate to discipline, be sure to tell them why they were given a certain punishment. All contained by all, have fun. This is going to be a fun experience for you!
Answers: I was a military camp counselor for the same age group, but is wasn't VBA it was the church summer camp...anywho.
1. Mean what you influence. If kids fight over something. Its gone. Period.
2. "Sharing is caring" the Bible teaches how important sharing is and we inevitability to be teaching our children that! :)
3. Seperate kids who don't behave
4. Encourage handraising
5. If you have kids for over 30 minutes you need to variety sure they have something to do...coloring, their craft, etc
6. Pray in the beginning within class and show them that we pray as a family
7. If you give snacks at the end, don't explain to them what it is in the beginning. For some reason I own noticed with my kids, if they know what they will get contained by the end, it determines how well they'll act for you. Just speak about them its really yummy.
8. Most importantly, talk to the kids a little. Get to know them if you have time, you'll see the requirements of the little ones!
