Allowance for a 11 & 9 year outdated?
just looking for the average- please answer with the age and the amount- any requirements like chores? your state/city- this matter to me because i know $10 might go far in one area of the country and not even buy a movie entry in another. thanks!
I would reccomend $10-30$ as your maximum :) I'm 13 and my allowance varies.
I never got an allowance and I use to do everything from dishes to sweeping and mopping to mowing the grass cleaning the bathroom washing/folding clothes even cooking dinner occasionally. My mother and step-father who has been in attendance since I was 2 says I have a place to live food to get through and a place to lay my head at night so I don't need an allowance I get hold of what I need and thats that we weren't poor we lived in a very dutiful community they just wanted me to be a good housewife and to respect them when I grew up and immediately that has all failed inflict we dont even speak now so lol
I'd pass them $15 - $ 20 every week.
They should be able to wash the dishes, clean their own room & transport out garbage.

When I was 12, my parents told me that every week (if I did my chores) I'd get $12 (because I be 12), but I had to pay for almost everything myself. There are always exceptions.
Answers: It is important to edify your child the value a dollar. "Money doesn't grow on trees", so don't overpay them. Make them work for their money-things like yard work, wash dishes, taking out the trash-something they can do consistently. I say you give them $5 a week each. If they do better within school or maintain excellent grades, increase it. If you find they are using money responsibly, increase their allowances by a few bucks. As they get elder, you may increase it.As a treat, you can increase their pay around the holidays for gifts.
Two cautions
Paying them differently may look like favoritism. Pay them impossible to tell apart initial amount, but bonuses(grades, responsibility with money, etc.) do not have to be equal.
If they did not do their chores for the week, then don't rate them.

my mom makes a list every day for us, it have about 5 chores on it, Along with everyday things like cleaning room, making bed, brushing teeth, ect.
for the 11 i would furnish 25 and for the 9 15.
when i was 11 i would get 20-25 :)
