ADHD medication who have experience a child next to ADHD, what are some tips on what works and what don't work.?

is there a Special schedule that works, food that the child shouldn't eat, undertakings any thing that works. Medication that one has experienced to be great in manging ADHD.
I had ADHD and still do... and I find that nothing works for me.

Another tip: alot of cases theses kids are NOT even ADHD they of late get feed to much SUGAR so they cant sit still or Concentrate in class!! try giving your child VERY little Sugar for a week and see the difference on how the child react!
My parents were told that I have AHD/ADHD when I was 5. They opted to not put me on medication or seek out services through special ed. It be probably the best decision they could have made because it prepared me for life.
They used a drumbeat method with me. If I was doing homework, or if they were working on something near me and my attention wandered they would tap on the table and verbally reminded me of the duty at hand. After a while they only had to stroke, and when I went to school they would let my teacher know what worked. Eventually the issue became breaking my concentration once I was immersed in a subject.
Now, as an developed I advocate against medicating your child until you have tried every other alternate route. Use exercise, don't allow them to sit in front of the tv or computer or games for hours, and keep hold of them occupied. Routine helps, chores help, extra curricular accomplishments help. However, medication doesn't always work, and at times can cause more long possession damage to the child than people admit too. I know that because my father specializes within Special Education as an Emotionally Handicapped Teacher for all grade levels. He have a masters in behavioral science, and his main students are ADD, ADHD, bipolar, psychotic, schizophrenic, and other personality disorders. He would update you the same thing he tells his students' parents. Medication is solitary a temporary fix that leads to more problems, dependency and medication. Alternate methods are always advisable for ADD/ADHD students, and for the others unless they are extremely disabled.
If you're not sure if an alternate method will work, merely think. I am 27 years old, I graduated High School beside dual credit honors classes, I have almost completed two degrees in the monarchy of education at once with Honors, I've been within the military, and I'm a successful cosmetologist.
Work with your child before dosing them with chemicals. The brain is to fragile to spend foolishly.
Answers:    Schedule - lately one that you stick to and works for you and your child. Routine is good for helping those of us with ADHD transition, keep track of things and be more successful.

Foods? No defence to limit any foods unless the child is allergic.

Activities? Outside physical activity in green space.

Meds? Any upper works for most next to ADHD, but there are several different types and one may work better then others - you and your doctor just own to try them out to find a good fit, which should take months. Once a promising one is found usually one slowly ups the dose until it's too much and then back off. I prefer methylphenidate (Ritalin) since it's fast acting, been used the longest, have the longest track record, doesn't stick around but it's also what we call Meth so it's a target for those who abuse substances which make taking it tricky. For that reason you might want to really research what's available.

Just realize that initially the child will be very sleepy on the med and it may take days to stabilize, I know when I started on Ritalin I slept for several days one and only getting up to use the restroom or eat, for the rest of the world it makes them wired and like me while for me it's a drug. Meds often mean a child or adult beside ADHD can sleep better at night, fall to sleep faster and deeper - a true blessing for everyone.
I was on Ritalin and Concerta since I was in 5th level.
I stopped taking medicine when I was in my ending 2 years of high school.

there are other ways. Strict scheduling, planning and other have a routine for things. Structure is KEY!
oh, and lots of physical activity! Sports and mental stimulation helps a LOT! Source(s): I used to enjoy ADHD
