Need design for back-yard birthday gala for my 10 year older daughter and 5 friends?
Gonna put up a tent, have a quickie-pool, but a little short on cash, and i want to breed it as special as she is. We have already planted Impatiens in cute little pots for "door prizes" but I really need some design for games and stuff.
Well, music (ask your daughter what she likes-- not all kids are Disney fans and I know my 10 year old cousin would be sulky if you just grabbed a Disney cd!)
Also you could get balloon or those cheep animal squirt gun things? If you just blow balloons up they can play games like tying it on at hand ankles and trying to pop each others, or just those games where you don't consent to the balloon touch the ground... as for squirt guns, they are always entertaining and lets them just be silly and feat like kids.
Set up some lounging chairs or some beach towels so they can lay around the pool.
Have some luau type music playing.
Some fun foods. Fresh fruit. Make a melon basket using a watermelon or a pineapple. Fill beside fresh pineapple chunks, melon balls, strawberries, grapes. Maybe some chocolate dipped strawberries. A fruit pizza using sugar cookie for the crust, a cream cheese type frosting and top with fresh strawberries and blueberries. Make sno cones (crush the ice within the blender) and then buy the flavored syup from Wal-Mart. You can buy the cheap cups and some paper umbrellas from any party supply store.
Instead of goody oodles, have the girls cover the straps of flip flops with some fabric strips. Buy cheap flip flops ($1 from Hobby Lobby, Oriental Trading) and afterwards cut strips of fabric into 6 inch strips. The girls decorate the strap of the flip flop by tying the fabric. It's cute, the kids hold fun doing it, and they all have a usable party favor. Plus, it's cheap.
Limbo. Use any type of stick (I use mop handle) and festoon with streamers.
Get a few pool toys for the swimming pool.
Do you have a fire pit? If so, you could build a fire and let the kids roast hot dogs and trade name smores. This is usually a pretty big hit.
Don't forget to set up a few tiki torches.
