What backpack enjoy you found is best?
Hoping to find one w/ reinforced corners for strength & an insulated compartment for lunch.
LL Bean (sp?) are the best!
Lol, I was only just going to say I couldn't think of the name, and later after a huge explanation, I remembered, haha.
Anyways, LL Bean is a GREAT brand name. I had that backpack probly for about 3-4 years and even consequently it was still in good shape, I merely felt I was "too old" for my initials on my backpack, as I was entering high-ranking school. I never had a backpack that lasted more than a year or 2, but this one held up great.
It is single available through their catalogue, as I don't believe there is an actual store location, although I could be wrong. You can choose from many styles/colors and can own your child's initials on the backpack as well. I do not recall ever seeing one with a special lunch compartment, but it is possible. It's be over 10-15 years since I had that backpack.
I like the ones you can go and get at hot topic with the hats on them :D

NO I AM NOT WEIRD! and yes, i hold really gone to school with one. and everyone wanted it :D lol
I have had apt luck with Trans by Jansport from Target. Many compartments, light weight and abundant colors/styles to choose from. The first one is now 4 years old and survived camp, arts school, and the washing machine. The second is three years old and have held up as well. Lands End sells a lunch sack that can clip to the outside (or inside the Jansport) of a backpack.
Answers: my son's quicksilver backpack has lasted from 9th grade and he will be a Senior this year beside same back back.
LL Bean or Jansport. Jansport holds up for awhile.
I have a Mountain Equipment Co-op backpack that has last through 3 kids and 15 years without even a loose thread or frayed strap. My kids can be brutal on things and I have found this backpack, (and pretty much everthing else I have ever purchased at Mountain Equipment Co-op) to be great appeal. Also, it is just plain yellow - no logos, design, etc. so it is good for adjectives ages and genders.
the ones that hang down on my back and carry books
