Does anyone else own these problems next to their 6 yr behind the times?
My son has speech delay, we work with him day after day. He avoids eye contact and is socially clumsy. He isnt autistic and I suspect Asperger's Syndrome but he doesnt have all the symptoms. He potty trained at almost 4 but I learned i.e. sometimes normal, he speaks well when we push him and is excellent at reading and math. His writing is improving, he's a spelling wiz. He hits his milestones so no diagnosis of anything is out within but he is socially awkward
Answers: I would just be more patience with him, as he is not delayed as such academically. May be he is a short time ago little introvert and needs that push. He is after all a child and there are too oodles demands of society even parents fall in this trap of fitting their child in flawless mold. Every kid is special - try to find that and enjoy before they are not kid anymore.
Good luck. Source(s): mom of 2
If you're concerned you can get him evaluated. It may not be autism, or aspergers, or anything else on the PPD spectrum but it could be (sounds as if it may be).
If it is, you will know how to look into different options. I know ABA is very successful.
