Whats a well-mannered b-day present for a 6 year behind the times boy?

Ok my son is about to turn 6 and I already know his grandparents are going to buy him a butt load of toys he doesnt need. Does anyone know if a worthy usefull present thats boys his age like? Hes a funny kid with an unusual personality. He like the usual boy stuff though, transformers, power rangers and some sports. He has a million toys though and doesnt really need anymore unless they are civilizing.. thanx.
Answers:    how about a beginners science kit- maybe a telescope with slides included. They also own kits to "make" electricity, and tons of other things. How about one of those kits where on earth you buy bug larva and a house for them and watch as the bugs develop? Does he have any of the good old toys like Lincoln Logs?
