My child's college wants a playground.**please**Creative fund raise design ?

My daughters school is big on space and small on equipment. They have a huge yard for primary students beside 1 shade tree, a couple baby trees, a large sand pit, and 4 swings. Would love to hear any creative fund raising accepted wisdom, or even approaches to get the community and local businesses involved.
recycling blitz
everyone bring contained by their recycling, collect it around the town and bring it to the recycling centre

you can purchase kit for around $200 they have everything but the wood, you can ask lumber yards for donations of wood and have the community come together and build the sets

BBQ, go hot dogs and burgers plus drinks
I've done this notion for a couple of things and It tends to go over very very well
do this at the at the schools next event or a community activity.

I other call it "a hug and kiss for (what ever you're fund raising for)

You buy the jumbo bags of hershey's hugs and kisses the candy and you put two together within either a small bag or a piece of cheesecloth with a bow around it to get a bag. Then you sell them for a dollar each.

It's a polite fund raiser because you do not have to deal with a fund raise company and you do not have to sell things everyone else does like coupon books and magazine. Also the upfront cost in very minimal and a group of mothers and/or kids can make hundreds surrounded by one afternoon together.

Also who doesnt like candy and many people will contribute the dollar for playground equipment, and distinctly in exchange for a small treat.
Answers:    try "rent - a - kid" or if they are not old enough how in the order of " rent - a - husband" (ultimate would be both together as father would get to spend time with the kids) you would hire them out to do odd job for people for a fee...you know stuff like cleaning out the gutters...cleaning the patio...etc.

approach businesses to donate merchandise and services then hold a penny auction( each ticket sells for a penny although today maybe $.10 or .25).you sell tickets (with numbers like ripened movie theatre tickets...make sure they are double so bidder gets to save a ticket to prove they won) and each item is shown through out the event...people put in tickets for the items they want( 1 ticket or as various as they like)...then a ticket is drawn (like a raffle) and winner gets that item.
First, cause sure your school district and the principal will allow a creative playground to be built there. Some don't due to liability.
I find the "thon" method of raising money works best - a run a thon, spring a thon, read a thon. People know that 100% of the money is going to the cause and they aren't stuck with something they didn't want to buy.
selling candybars seems to angle a lot of money from my experience. If you want to get the community involved you can do a walk a thon or something along those lines.
Many local restaurants will hold a fundraiser night for groups and organizations where for one dark a portion of their sales will go to that group. You just dance into a local shop (like a mom and pop pizza shop) and ask to speak with the owner. Make sure to explain what you are aiming for, your goals, how it would benefit the children, and how YOU would use it to promote THEIR business.
I've just been through 3 years of fundraising for my kids' conservatory, for playground equipment. You won't likely be able to build it yourselves, due to safety regulations, and the playground companies that are certified sheltered are very expensive, of course!
Here's what worked for us:
- magazine sales (repeat this every year for renewals)
- overheat sale on meet-the-teacher night (donated baked goods of course)
- ask for charitable donations
- we sold grant wrap at Christmas
- cool-shaped dried pasta at Christmas (made good stocking stuffers and hostess gifts)
- try a read-a-thon or walk-a-thon
- make sure to have a picture of your "goal" so that adjectives the kids know what they are working towards
- fun carnival with dunk tank (lots of kids will pay lots of money to dunk the principal!)
Ah, the usual boil sale? Go to Hobby lobby, make soap and candles and sell it? I forgot the dub, but here is a lolipop company like ozarks or something. You can sell a ton of those?
