Do you enjoy a tricky time getting kids to do day after day chores?
it is such a headache for me! they will get started and then something distracts them and I have to preserve reminding them, and/or track them down. sometimes I get sidetracked too, and forget they are supposed to be doing their chores instead playing vid. games or something.
I get sidetracked doing chores too and I'm 19! Cleaning my room takes a good 5 hours or so.
give them 2 or 3 chores they have to do in the past being allowed any priveleges (video games, phone, tv, etc.) once they finish the chores they can do the fun things, or do more chores which they can get paid for. the first couple of chores are their responsibility that they dont achieve paid for but they can get paid for doing more later they are required to do. it teaches good values & it worked really well within my home. If we got on the computer or something before we were done later we got another unpaid chore added to our list for that day. it help us remember not to slack off.
Answers: I get side tracked just trying to follow up on the kids, so how can I expect the kids to do their tasks and not return with sidetracked - LOL.
Seriously though, my 4-almost 5 year old daughter has to be asked 5 times almost to do one simple chore. I have to stand over her to sort sure she does it.
I have so much on my plate and to try to get the kids to do chores is just adding up more to myself. I don't know how other parents succeed.
I've used a chore/sticker chart with some success in times gone by on my son. I'll have to try that again so that they'll know I'm serious : )
I have no problems with getting my kids to do chores, or homework etc.. Sounds like the problem is you aren't following through on your supervision as a parent. Little kids do well when you do the obligation with the child. It's fun and they learn. As long as you stay focused, they stay focused.
I agree with the other mom going on for turning off TVs etc., get the work done first, before it's free time for fun.
EDIT: I hold not paid my kids to clean their own rooms, nor to do minor jobs that save the place going. They get paid for bigger jobs at all over the place. They are told what the job pays and they have the option of doing the position or not. (like waxing a car). They do not have the option of making their bed, and I'm not going to pay them for it either. They don't complain and like to back, so I guess it's turning out ok for us. Source(s): mom of 3 boys
I hate chores but my dad made a list. It has adjectives our names in it. And if we miss a day or something its a x and if we do it its a check fault
i'm 13 and i hateeeee doing chorse but i resembling when i get paid for doing them.. not too much money but i think u should make a contribution them a couple dolors for each thing they do and dont pay them if they nouns off =] that is what helps me do them =] hope i help you
I set aside a time in the morning where adjectives my boys have a list of chores that they need to do. When they start I turn stale all tvs and anything else that can distract them while they are getting what they need to get done. As soon as they are finished we saunter around the house and I check what they did and then check it off of their list. I HATE doing chores and so do my brothers. my mother usually threatens us so we will do it.
im 13 and i hate doing chores...i luv when i get payed 4 dem..my mama says it help me learn the value of a dolar and like how firm u have to work 4 ya money and how fast it goes
i hold a younger cousin who i spend alot of time and she iz 4 and she luves cleaning...we bought her i broom and mopp shuvle rack n etc. that was for lil kids at target they were all minature within cute n stuff so now when sumbdy is cleaning she wants to help..she also cleans her own room..irdk ( i really dnt knw) y she like to do it but she allways says big girls help clean up she think its fun sumtimes we play games wen we are cleaning up and sing songs together off disney channel usually
