How do you catch a six year prehistoric little boy to stop sucking his thumb?

I agree with the hot sauce response.

My aunt did exactly that with my little cousin and he eventually stopped doing it.
I know this sounds silly, but put hot sauce on his thumb, trust me, he'll never want to lick his finger again
Honestly if he wants to stop he will. I'm not proud to admit this but I sucked my thumb for 20 years! My teeth are fine. My parents tried hot sauce, nail polish remover, & so copious other things. He'll just taste it and wipe it off turn right back to sucking.
