How seriously do you bring Ofsted reports?

Here's a sort of repost...my last question didn't get much response.how is your childsd school ofsted report and how realistically does it reflect the school...were you bright and breezy with the school but then it get a bad report...or the other way around? Tell me your thoughts on the reports...how realistic do you give attention to they are?
they are always really bleak.
When i be at school my teachers would change everything when ofsted be there. They sent all the naughtiest kids up to the library and would change their lesson plans and everything. It doesn't effect the students newly the school as a whole. It didn't represent our school properly because we get a good result for something which doesn't usually take place.
Ofsted reports are always going to be subject to the person/s doing the inspection.

The comments about sending the playful kids home are, with all fairness a bit daft. When an inspection happens they, (the inspectors) look at adjectives the paperwork. So trying to "hide" naughty children from them just wouldn't work. They look at everything. Most schools own an element of "naughty" children, they are not looking to see how many you have, they want to see what you do near them, how you handle the situations, what are you doing to improve the lot for these kids. Relationship between school and community - by which we don't suggest just parents, but that is where it starts.

As for teacher going mad making everything looking great in school, do you really believe that the inspectors are not aware of this, also if someone important was coming to visit you wouldn't you do you're housework.

the amount of paperwork that have to be done in schools now at hand is no way it could be got up to date in a couple of days, to be exact the amount of notice they get for inspections. If the report says it is surrounded by order, then it is!!

If you are really serious about choosing a academy from its results you need to look at the progress within a school.

Sometimes school go through bad patches and consequently they settle and take off again, sats results are always antediluvian, and are not a true picture of what is going on in the school. If children are coming into a school near a low base line and/or other things going on medical/emotional then the ending results may not be quite up to national averages. Again I say you need to look at rates of progress, not in recent times the end results.

Look at the reports they should point these things out, then talk to the institution. Sometimes the inspector can be a little harsh. They are pretty realistic though, but possibly with a different slant than you would take.

Inspections are important because we hold in the past failed our children contained by their education, so accountability is important.

My childrens school be doing well, then we lost the headteacher and things whent down hill fast, a number of head teachers come and whent. The inspection all but dammed the school. It be a fair report because we were in trouble, but it help us get back on track.

It is difficult because if you are involved in a institution as a parent or a member of staff you get emotionaly involved, and therefore it is rugged hearing your little school is rubbish!! But it gives everybody the opportunity to increase things. Pointing out what it is that needs to be done to improve.

As a parent the most important article you can do is support the school in their decisions. Discuss everything, draw from involved, join the p.t.a., become a governor.

Be a busy body parent!! - get the other parents to do the same. Don't basically moan or worry, do something about it. That's what I did / do!

Sorry this has be rather long, but this is something I feel a pationately about! Source(s): Me - stool p.t.a. - parent governer - Community Cohesion Leader

Well, in my university, if there is a whisper of ofstead, the whole academy seems suddenly cleaner, nicer, and stinking of wet paint. They always fancy up everything and hide all our impurities. Very good liars, my teacher. That's why we get good ofstead reports. I like them coz it sort of show you what your college could be like if we all tried (and were threatened next to a detention were we to put a toe out of line).
