BABY medical grill!?!?
Ok... So i know this couple and they just had a baby and when she be about 5-8 wks pregnant and they did and untrasound(is that early for one and does that mean they be looking for something to be worng?) so anyway.. they told her about 3 months later that she took a test for the newborn to have autism and came back positive!! so they havent said that it is autistic so im guessing its not but could it still be possible for it to be that course.. Also the parents are 2nd cousins could that be a factor in any way in the adjectives... ( please no rude comments) ( heres how they are related... The dad's dad is the mom's mom nephew)
thanks!
Usually that first scan that early is to date a pregnancy for a woman with irregular periods, to net sure its in the womb and not ectopic if there is a history of that and to check for a heartbeat.
The only oral exam that I am aware of is the quad screening, and this is done around 14-18 weeks. This is looking for neural tube defects (a high number) or down's syndrome which is a low number.
In congenital autism where the child is born next to it, the brain does start to grow overly fast and the frontal lobe is very dense and heavier. Many times a child with congenital autism will fall through the quad screen with an increased risk for down's syndrome. When you fail a down's screening, they do not detail you you are at an increased risk for autism, its only my experience and the afteraffect from talking to other mom's. Also, alot of them tend to be Rh- too.
There are risks to inbreeding, but autism and down's syndrome isn't one of them, mental retardation would be a concern.
At 12 months old autism is one and only accurately diagnosed by a specialist 60 percent of the time. Source(s): nurse
2 sons that have been diagnosed with an autistic spectrum disorder
at 5 weeks you cannot hardly see anything on a fetus. I have one at 7 weeks 5 days and all you could really see was a blob with a flicker that be the heartbeat. As far as I know there is not a blood or ultrasound test for autism. They CAN do a screening for neural tube defects such as spina bifida and things close to down syndrome. Autism is rarely diagnosed in a child before a year old---it is most commonly diagnosed around 18-24 months antiquated. Source(s): mom of 3 (13,9,3) oldest DOES have autism.
Answers: I've never heard of an autism try-out.. I think you may have the wrong info... They can check for down syndrome but not autism...Autism is not noticable till years down the road.
There is not a test for autism. Autism isn't diagnosed as an infant. I am wondering if you mean "Down's Syndrome" instead of Autism. Down's Syndrome can be detected by carrying out tests the amniotic fluid.
The ultrasound done around the 8th week is called a viability scan and is used to check for a heartbeat on the child.
They could have waived that test for autism. I did. It didn't concern to me if my baby was autistic or had downs syndrome, so we didn't bother carrying out tests.
Those test pull a lot of false positives. There's a virtuous chance their baby ISN'T autistic, but I suppose there's a good accidental he or she is, too. The only way they'll know is from further testing or to lurk until the baby is born.
