How masses women enjoy you hear of have babies near birth defect due to smoking?
I always hear people say that smoking can result in birth defects but I've never met anyone with a child that has birth defect due to smoking,I've heard of low birth weight but I don't consider that a defect. I smoked through my unharmed pregnancy it wasn't like two packs a day or anything resembling that it was more like half. My child girl is perfectly healthy she weighed 7 lbs 1oz when she be born and she is now 6 months old still with nought wrong. My mother smoked with all her children and we were born nourishing as well. I know a lot of people who enjoy smoked through pregnancy that have had healthy babies. I guess I really of late want to know what are the chances of birth defects happening because right immediately I think they're pretty slim
I don't know of anyone next to birth defects from smoking.
I have also heard it cause low birth weight.
But it is a cancer causing, and dirty habit!
My Dr. told me not to quit. Quitting cause stress and will harm the
baby. So I cut back to 5-7 a afternoon. The result. 3 pregnancies, 3 big
and healthy babies. Between 8.11 lbs and 7.9 lbs. All because I listened to my Dr. His advice benefited my children. Source(s): Listening to an experienced Dr. beside a college degree, instead of uneducated non smokers on Yahoo who don't have one.
I like you am a smoker. Smoked with my first, smoking with this one. My mother smoked beside both my sister and I, we came out weighing 6 lbs some odd ounces, and my son come out 6lbs 3 oz. I have never heard of birth defects stirring such as downs syndrome or anything really major like that. but low birth weight is adjectives when a woman smokes while shes pregnant, but you have to think about this too, women who don't smoke own 4 lb babies who spend months in the NICU, what's their reason?? ya know?
I'm badly informed of anyone of my friends or family who smoked having a sickly/deformed baby, or suffering a miscarriage because of it. My sister didn't find out she be pregnant until the end of her first trimester, and she was a heavy drinker, a 2 pack a sunshine smoker, and a methadone addict, and her baby was born without fault healthy, a week late, and nearly 8 lb. She's 18 months old very soon, ahead of the curve as far as developmental milestones, and smart as a dang whip. :) Don't get me wrong--I'm not condoning smoking during pregnancy at all, but I'm tired of nation bitching about it, honestly.
Meanwhile, my sister in law who be the perfect size 2, blonde haired blue eyed beauty worked out, ate extremely healthful foods and indulged in NOTHING from the "no no" roll (not dangerous foods like swordfish, not alcohol, not lunch meat, NOTHING), gained exactly 35 lb. worked out, blah blah blah (seriously--she could enjoy co-authored "What to Expect When You're Expecting" that's how careful she was). and you know what? Her baby was born a month untimely and has some weird defect where on earth he's missing a toe on his right foot, and his right leg and foot are smaller than the left. He's also got some type of learning disability (it's mild, but still there).
**** happen, you know? My mom chain smoked with all three of us, and my sister and I be both about 7 1/2 lb. and my brother was about 7, and none of us are mentally retarded, bony, we didn't have tiny heads (or whatever that humbug is).
children of parents who smoke have a higher risk of sids, middle ear infections, and athsma, they are also more predictable to smoke, how many of your siblings smoke?
My son weighed 10.3 when he be born. Slept through the night the day we brought him home from the hospital. He is brilliant and funny and amazing. He has impeccable listen skills, he is very well behaved, and is such a great kid. He is completely healthy and happy. And I smoked half a pack a year.
I am 25 weeks pregnant and I still smoke. And there wasn't a single thing wrong with my daughter. She looked thoroughly good at the 19 week ultrasound. The techs exact words: very healthy.
I agree near you. There are so many things that could go wrong. Even for the women whom do everything right by the book. Its not just the smokers and the drinkers and the drug users that hold things wrong with their babies. And they have to warn the common public.
Its their duty. But if you do things in moderation, then its not going to hurt the baby at adjectives.
Meanwhile I don't drink or do drugs, smoking is the only thing that I do, do. And so far, I have have an amazing pregnancy. Its been a complete problem free pregnancy.
What do you think our parents were really doing stern in the 60s and 70s? And look at how many of us are still alive and are perfectly vigorous. Think about what truly happened. Do we know about it? Probably not but be all still doing really good.
As for the women who think they know it adjectives, you don't. I promise you, that you are not perfect. So just because I smoke and am pregnant, does not make me a shocking person. I am addicted and its been a proven fact that smoking is harder to quit later cocaine or heroin.
Its kind of hard to believe the mumbo jumbo bullsh*t about what smoking does to an unborn kid when I have had a 10.3 kid who has other been perfect.
Its not just smoking that can effect all these things to go wrong, and I think that you adjectives know that.
So do not blame it just on smoking because it can be false!
Answers: It's not true at all or their would be a national campaign against it <close to there was for SIDS>. Their propaganda is largely based on hear-say, little research and LIES. Yes, it can produce low birth weight if you smoke three packs a day. If society would do their own research they would know that in tobacco research the baseline is always one pack a day. Low birth weights be prominent in the women who smoked 2 or more packs a day. Yes one pack a afternoon isn't good but the low birth weight with purely smoked one pack a day was measured in scant ounces. Many of us smokers do not smoke more than one pack a year and we dramatically cut down when we are pregnant - I went down to five a day. Pregnancy is a very stressful time within your life and if your coping mechanism is smoking most docs would rather you smoke than you and the fetus walk cold turkey through nicotine withdraws. Like any drug the benefits and risks of using it have to be weighed thinly and individually, most docs and midwives advocate cutting down if not managing to quit. Based on the horizontal of dependence, the most common measure for determining the addictiveness of a drug, the substances ranked as follows, from most to least possible addictive: Nicotine, Heroin, Cocaine, Alcohol, Caffeine and Marijuana. Nicotine is at the top beating out heroin and cocaine! I get more than a little tired of women jump down smokers throats because they no matter how much they try cannot stop smoking while pregnant. Most of us cut down as low as we can go yet that can put some of us through withdraw. Withdraws are stress on the women and the developing baby and a constant stress or throughout your whole pregnancy can prove to be more dangerous than ingesting the nicotine.
All I am saw is before you judge do your research and try to be understanding. Please remember quitting smoking is the hardest entry in the world for some of us.
Edit: Second hand smoke? I smoke outside always.
