2 bright spots found on baby's heart on ultrasound. To verbs?
I received a call from my OB today. She said that they noticed two bright white spots on my baby's ultrasound on the heart. From my understanding this is an Echogenic Intracardiac Focus. Meaning calification surrounded by the heart.
I am currently 22 weeks pregnant and freaking out. My brother was born with a hole in the heart and so be my half-sister (my dad re-married). So this is obviously a genetic condition from my dad's side of the family. My OB is referring me to a specialist to further look into this.
My bloodword came final negative for Down's Syndrome. And both times that I have listened to the heart everything be fine.
Should I be worried?
Answers: I know it's hard to do, but do your best not to freak out -- it's not good for you or your baby. The expert will oblige you figure out what's going on and help you figure out where on earth to go from here. Just stay positive ... good luck to you!
