Pregnancy, doctor call round costs, and one "too far along"?
Two months ago my girlfriend and I discovered that she was pregnant. It took us some time to save up the money for a doctors appointment, and now most of the doctors she call refuse to see her because she's "too far along." In fact, we could only find ONE who agreed to see us. I'm completely untried to all things pregnancy, but why would a doctor refuse to see you because you haven't seen them from impulsive on? I'm guessing this isn't unusual, because most of the doctors are doing this in my area.
The doctor we have an appointment for will charge us $350 for some test they need to run, but they're not very straight forward about the cost.
When I asked around the first appointment, they quoted me $2,000-something for a vaginal delivery. I just wanted to see how much a drop by was. I'm so very confused!
And in this department, the secretary is very rude and impatient. So I decided to get information from you guys, fairly than taking any more of this "abuse".
Long story short: How does pregnancy work, in relation to doctor visits and payment?
Thanks,
Qwerti C.
Answers: It is difficult for them to be straightforward roughly the cost. They run one test and depending on the result, they run others.
If you run out of options, contact the maternity ward of your hospital and ask for advocate about where to go for comfort. Explain why you've been refused care. Another selection is contacting Planned Parenthood. A lot of their units provide prenatal care or referral to low cost prenatal care.
Ok.. as far as visit, you are usually paying for the entire package - not each individual visit. I suspect that is to say partly why you might be getting refused - the doctor would have to chomp through a lot of the cost and they would have difficulty doing that for too many patients.
If you call for more explanations at the office you went to, ask to speak to a nurse instead of the secretary. She isn't too bright otherwise she could explain.
Find your nearest family planning, Family Independence Agency (F.I.A), or a Human Resources building. They can draw from you help, and also maternity insurance if you qualify. That's terrible, but most doctors do that... I'm sorry I can't lend a hand you more, but hopefully you can find one of these agencies. Make sure she has her prenatal above all else even if you cant get to a doctor!! Go and speak to people at a Health Store like GNC or something similar if you have not already. Source(s): Family experience beside F.I.A. and crappy doctors...
