Babysitting? Going rate/Opinions?
I am thinking about starting to babysit to earn some extra cash but I wanted to know what the going rate is for this year. I am some-what experienced; I babysit my niece and nephew adjectives the time! I'm fourteen years old btw.
Also, I feel like I'm individual taken advantage of when I babysit my niece and nephew; I do so much(i.e. wash dishes for the mom and dad, pick up the house, etc.) and they don't pay me! Is it wrong for me to ask them for money? I get the impression guilty just thinking about it but my mom tells me that they are taking power of me...
well i'm 15 and very experienced and i charge 10.00 an hour. if they have close to you know 3 or 4 kids then i give them a little bit of a discount.
$10-$15 dollars per hour is depending on how many kids you are watching. DO NOT go below $10. Whoever said $10 could acquire you into daycare has obviously never gotten daycare prices. You won't pay smaller number than than $20 for daycare, plus a couple extra dollars if you don't bring them food. I charged $10 per hour when I babysatt 15 years ago. So like I said $10-$15 dollars is good, more if you have more than 4 kids at a time. I hold 2 kids, so I know what I would pay you, thats a very good traffic...Where do you live? I might hire you =)
Answers: I believe that $10 per hour is a steep price to pay. That is about how much it costs to put a child in daycare. Pricing also depends on if you own a babysittinglicense and/or a driver's license. Are CPR certified? If not then I myself wouldn't pay you more that minimum wage. If so then I judge that you could charge a little more. Just remeber that if you price to highly then you may enjoy problems finding work. Another thing you could think about doing is conversation with the people you are going to babysit for and see what they expect for you to do and from there want your price. Remember that this is just my own opnion. When I was babysitting I only charged minimum wage because I solitary had my drivers lisence and I am 20.
I permit the people I babysit choose the rate. Some ask me how much they should pay me but I just speak about them it's completely up to them. I'm 15 and I babysit for two families, one pays more than the other but that's because one family has 2 soundless children and the other has 3 quite noisy ones.
When I babysit I other wash up etc as my mum said it was horrible for her to come in from a darkness out and find the babysitter hadn't washed up her mess! They will pay you, otherwise they know you would be unlikely to babysit for them again. Don't feel guilty in the region of them giving you money, they wouldn't be able to go out if it wasn't for you looking after their children.
