Need a counsel next to convertible vehicle form?

My baby is 11 months old. He weighs 22lbs and 27 inches long. He have outgrown his chicco infant car seat. His feets clings outside his seat very soon. Is it the right time to shift him from infant car seat to the toddler convertible car form? We are planning to go on long trip in car, shall we still take the infant car seat so that he can sleep or convertible car form is as comfortable for babies? And which convertible car seats are good for babies. Any suggestions. Thank you.
Answers:    Now is a worthy time to switch him. A Good convertible seat it the True Fit. It rear faces to 35lbs and afterwards ff to 65lbs. The harness straps are great for adjusting becuase you dont have to re thread them to move them up.
