How aged is too frail to breastfeed?( not implication to offend)?

I just answered the question to wean or not to wean. it gives me the heebie jeebies when your child is ripened enough to walk up to you and unbutton your shirt and they are still breastfeeding? does anyone else feel this opening? Am I the only one who thinks 12months is the cut off time?
I think 3 is okay, but after turning 4 I'm not so comfortable with.

It's entirely possible to nurse a toddler and not have them lately walk over and unbutton your shirt. That's rude, I know plenty of people who allowed their children to self-wean (it always terminated up being age 2 or 3) and their children did not behave like that, you just prepare them nursing etiquette.

It has health and comfort benefits after 12 months...recommended for at least 2 years if truth be told by a lot of medical associations...
Personally I don't think ill of anyone who decide to breastfeed past 12 months, but I know myself I would not (Here come the thumbs downs)

I just don't see a need for breastfeeding (as surrounded by child still on the breast) to continue past 12 months, at that age they can eat regular food, and drink milk (whether it be cows milk, formula OR breast milk) out of cups, I don't beleive contained by the 'breastfeeding for the longest makes you a better, bonded parent ' theory either.

Basically, if a woman breastfeeds her child til it is 3, 5 or even 8, it's none of my business and honestly it doesn't really phase me. It's not my child.
But I instinctively would not.
It's fine if you're not comfortable with that, but many are fine beside it, including myself. If you don't want to nurse past a year, then don't. Simple.

I believe in allowing the breastfeeding child to self-wean. That is my personal choice, and capably supported by expert research.
Women over 60 shouldn't breastfeed! lol

But seriously, I feel that a child old ample to walk shouldn't be, but this is highly personal and individual.

There isn't any particular cut-off time for anyone, but most mothers use adjectives sense and wean the child long before he/she is walking.
i agree with you. i just dont feel i would personally feel comfortable after 12 months. although i dont know how i will feel after i enjoy this baby... i think it all depends on the situation you are within and your personal preferances.
8 is definitely too old.
5 is pushing it, I think.
