Does this sort me a bleak mom?
I am still in college.
My question is: once i finish my MMDS (Masters in Molecular Diagnostic Science), I want to steal my kids on a cruise. By the time, I finish with this, my oldest will be about 8 and my youngest will be around 5 or so.
I ask because my mother and other relatives are criticizing me because of this choice.
I am a single mom, and I want them to the rewards of struggling to do what you have your heart set on.
I want to shift on a cruise around Belize and Cozumel, etc.
I think that by this age, they will be able to remember and enjoy the trip. As far as no, neither of them is afraid of the hose or boats. Obviously, I will introduce them slowly to the idea and to boats.
Personally, I think that part of it is because most of them (the society who are choosing to criticizing my decision), have neither completed college nor been on a cruise. They are telling me that it is a fruitless idea because it will teach them that money and 'fancy' things are important, more vital that our faith (we are christians).
I am at a loss.
What do you all think?
what the hell is life withouot some fun. you would be a discouraging mom to not do something like that. just make a big do business out of it and make sure your kids realize how blessed they are to be going on such a great trip. it sounds like since yo are in ollege they will hold enouogh suffering by the time you take the trip
Your a single mom and hard working supporting yourself and your children too. My hats off to you for standing on your own and furthering your childhood and serviced your country too! Your the GREAT example of what a single mom should be in life! Best of luck to you!
As far as going on this trip with your kids, if you competent to afford it and your bills are paid, go for it and enjoy yourself and enjoy a great time with your kids! Bring a camera to take photos!
i think it is great you want to do those things near your children... i totally think the 1st answer was beyond rude. we struggle but still like to hand over the kids those enjoyable things in life. well brought-up for you
How is that bad/?? so what, u want to take ur kids on a vacation because of what have happened, with ur degree or anything. ur relatives r being waay too judgmental. They aren't gonna think that fancy things are important, because they deserve to own some kind of luxary. and, its not more important than faith, because they are kids. within life shouldn't be as hard as urs was, so of late let them have there fun, only make sure u don't spoil them.
No, I don't think it's a bad opinion. Every family needs a vacation. My parents took my sister and me to Hawaii when I be about 9. We flew first class (dad works for the airline, so the flight had nothing to do beside money), and we had a great time. And, I can honestly say that my sister and I have turned out terribly well, so far. I have been for a time slow finishing up college, but neither of us were spoiled rotten, we've always worked for ourselves. I think a cruise would be a great opening to get away from everything and you will probably have the best quality time next to your kids, with no phones to distract you.
I say, you should raise your kids as you see fit, and if those criticize you for it, they are probably jealous.
Of course it doesnt make you a fruitless mum.
You have obviously studied hard and it would prob be nice for you to rob your kids away for a lil break.
It sounds like a great idea to me.
I think its a wonderful idea to pilfer your family on a cruise...you worked hard for the money to go on the cruise.do it..vivacity is to short not to enjoy life and to have fun near your kids..we are christians too and I still take my kids on vacations and have fun! I am proud of you for working so complicated and for going to school, and raising children...HAVE FUN!
life is short and someday your grown up sons will remember all the special times, you should do it whenever you are mostly free with time preferably after getting your level.
Answers: Um, I finished my masters of science contained by biochemistry and I was paying a mortgage and got a freaking job, no bloody cruise. Get beside it, the rest of the world works and takes care of their family - cruises are for those who hold worked.
If you own the time and money, you go girl! Your daughters will LOVE the cruise! I took my girls on three and I was a single mom for two of them. It helps when you hold family who cruise all the time and can find bargains for you. Beware, everything costs money on a cruise! Tips, drinks (liquor and soda), excursions, photos, video, bingo, etc. Plan on all the extras! The great thing is you will have some time alone, since childcare is provided! And the childcare is more close to a camp so they will have a blast! Taking your kids on vacation does not sort you a bad mother. And one or two nice trips in their childhood will not give them the wrong theory about money. A lot of my girls' childhood was spent bargain hunting and cost adjectives! Why not have a little bit of fun? Congrats on your upcoming degree!
i never heard of any one not allowed to take their kids on time off..i think there jealous
I have to be honest and enunciate that I completely disagree with your family members. I am a devout Christian (my father is a minister), and for your children to see the fruit of firm work is very beneficial to them. One trip will not teach them that fancy things are important, it will broaden their minds and show them that in that are things in life that are worth working hard for. Where within the bible does it say that you are not supposed to enjoy life? Nowhere. As a event of fact, its states the opposite.
A faithful man shall abound near blessings, but he who makes haste to be rich [at any cost] shall not go unpunished. Proverbs 28: 20
Explain this to your children. There are other consequences to any decision you make (good or bad). The bible distinctly teaches nearly stewardship. This will ultimately teach your children to work hard for what you want and save money to be capable of do something "special". How is that taking away from their faith; if anything it is only reinforcing the bible (pratically the undamaged book of Proverbs and the parable of the master who gave money to his servants while he was away).
It will be a appropriate experience for them. It will give them a chance to see other cultures outside of their own. They are definitly old ample to understand that. It will create lifetime memory of happiness with you for both of you kids. You can also incorporate biblical teachings on your trip such as different lifestyles, creation, travel unto all the earth and preach the gospel, etc.
I can promise you that the trips I took with my parents (even if they started rotten as a vacation) always ended up as ministry. You don't leave God at home ya know, and I will never forget those times beside my family.
i ruminate that is fine
after studying what you have you deserve a cruise and as long as it won't make you broke when you return and be not sufficiently expert to care for your kids properly, you are not a bad mother
also as long as the kids don't mind boats
i really don't think simply going on a cruise will edify your children that money is everything, that is taught to them but most of society
