What do you reflect of "Violin" or "Violine" as a girl's nickname?
Both can be pronounced "vee oh LEEN" or "vee oh LINN." I'm more inclined towards the latter pronounciation on either name - but I'm much more inclined towards "Violin" also.
I know this is a more unusual name. I want to touch around with it. Rate it and comment if you could please! (Suggestions are always welcome, even if it's not comparatively what I'm looking for...)
It could grow on you I guess
I'm not too keen on it. The only redeeming feature is that she'd hold "Vi" as a cute nickname.
For her entire life, she'd be asked "so do you.er...play the violin?" (whether out of genuine curiosity, small tell, or as a joke). That'd get boring fairly fast.
Can you predict Violin stacking supermarket shelves? Can you imagine Chief Justice Violin (surname)? Personally I can't. So, for me, the problem is that the name 'expects' the girl to turn out a certain agency (artsy, romantic). She may want to work in retail; she may want to be a cleaner; she may want to be a supreme court judge. She needs a identify that won't seem hilariously odd in any of those environments, imo.
I much prefer Violet or Viola.
Answers: Hm. Actually, I really like the sound of it, now I've tried it out a few times. I devise it might be a bit awkward since it reminds everyone of the instrument. Think of the "world's tiniest violin" jokes when she's upset!
But it is pretty!
What about Viola? That's an instrument but also a name already. Violetta is pretty too.
Hope this help :-]
I much prefer Viola. If you are from an artsy background you could move about with:
Harmony
Clara (as in...Clarinet)
Frida (as in the painter)
Gretel
Matilda (as within Waltzing Matilda)
Juliet
Have fun..I did.
Hi long time you havent be on here!
If it wasnt for the musical instrument I might like this name, I know of the name Violaine... an infirm fashioned name, not made up..."vee-Oh-layn" to me sounds nicer and with Violin/e people will a short time ago think you named her after the musical instrument & probably pronounce it Vie-oh-lin aswell. terrible
Well, I am not a huge fan of it. But, it certainly is unique! I close to Violet, which is pretty close to it. If you like it, use it!
sounds awful! what about lilac? that's kind of close to violin..
I don't think that's a fitting name for a child, either one.
