I usually find a unique last christen too. Smith or something like that just doesn't sound right surrounded by a story. For one, I am using Stoner instead of Stone because I don't like Stone as a last name. So, I only added an R. It may sound like a really weird ultimate name, but I really don't like Stone, especially with the first describe I chose to go with it.
In another story, I am using Clark. I really like it near the first name, and I couldn't find any good last baptize besides that. I mean, I had a whole piece of article filled with last name and none of them sounded right!
What I would suggest is paying attention to the movie credits. Sometimes, I will sit with a notebook and a pencil or pen and write down any cool last name that I see in the credits. It works, and sometimes you can find really cool names. Like Parrish or Weeks.
Another thing you could do is run to the cemetery. It might sound a bit freaky and weird, but it particularly helps! You can find so many great last name there.
