I'm looking for a really soft and feminine cross... Any philosophy?
By "really soft and feminine", I mean a name that's delicate and doesn't hold any hard sounds. I hope you get what I mean because I don't really know how else to put it.
Thanks contained by advance :)
Brielle
Helen(a)
Viola
Emma
Emmeline ("emm eh LEEN")
Adeline
Julie
Amélie
Sonia
Elsa
Lisa
Melissa
Ilona (that is "ilona," in adjectives small letters - Hungarian version of Helen)
Lorraine
Lily
Violine/Violín ("vee oh LEEN" or "vee oh LINN")
Isabel
Jeanne ("zhahn" - soft French J)
Susannah
Willa
Yvonne
Basic "rules":
Soft letters to look for: (soft) C, (soft) G, H, J, L, M, S, V, W; SH-sounds
Harder parcels to try to avoid: (hard)C, F, (hard) G, K, P, Q, R, T, Z
Try to go with U and O sounds, as those are a bit more feminine sounding. You don't have to follow that one by the book though. (ex. Amélie, Sarah, etc.)
B and D and N (among others) are a bit middle ground; avoid putting them at the extremity of a name. (I make an exception with my suggestion Jeanne, which is softened by the French J.)
You may want to avoid most consonant ending anyway (though some French endings like -ette and -ine could work well, example: Juliette or Adeline.) The -a, -ah and -ie/-y ending are the most soft.
(ETA: One reason I didn't add my own favorites - I always try to dance for very feminine and elegant names - is that they contain profusely of Rs, Ns and Ts - Rosamund, Wren, Charlotte, Kerensa, for example, have a bit of "power" to it, which you don't seem to be asking for.)
(ETA2: LOL, Didn't see what Emmy Jo had wrote :) )

From a linguistic standpoint, name with lots of liquid/approximant sounds (R's, L's, and W's) tend to sound very soft. The nasals (M and N) and voiceless fricatives (F, S, and the TH contained by "thick") are also good. I definitely avoided names beside stops or plosives (the "hard" consonants like P, B, T, D, K, G), and I find the voiced fricatives (like V, Z, and the TH in "this") also tend to give name a hard edge.
EDIT: I love other people's suggestions of Sophia, Elise, Amelie, Anneliese, Lorelei, and Celine.
