Are your children's given name label equipped?
I've always liked names that are not fit for short version so people can call the kids what they are called, however, not adjectives the names we like have this aspect.
Our oldest son's name is Felix and it doesn't have a short version. Our second's identify is Leon and people usually call him Leo. Our twins' names will be Thea and Jonas. Thea cannot be shortened but Jonas might become Jon, who know.
How about your kids? Do you like nicknames base on the name? Which are cute and which are not so good?
I think no thing what people will nickname a child...even if it's buba, nothing to do near the child's real name.
Mine are:
Ivy...people call for her Ives, and her silly uncle calls her Iverson
Maveric...some call him Mav or Mavy I call him buba
Remington..everyone call him Remi and his three year old sister calls him Rem Dog
Yes i do like nicknames base on the names. My son's name is Maddox and his nickname is Max. I don't close to Maddy or Mad for nicknames for Maddox though, cuz to me Maddy is a girly nickname and Mad sounds weird as a appellation lol.
My twins; if both girl's will be Madison and Gwendolyn, and i like the nicknames Madi and Gwen.
Again i don't like Mad for a description and i don't like any other nickname u could come up with for Madison.
I don't resembling the nickname Lyn or Dolly, or any other nickname u could come up with for Gwendolyn.
My twins; if both boy’s will be Colton and Liam, and I approaching the nicknames Colt and Li.
Cole is a cute nickname too, but I prefer Colt, but i don't like any other appellation u could come up with for Colton.
Li Li is a cute nickname too, but I prefer just one Li, but i don't approaching any other nickname u could come up with for Liam.
Interesting Question, :D.
my parents named me Katherine to call me Katie but i hate that describe so i go by Kat now.
my daughter is brooke and she does not have a nickname.
i dont mind it.
our next daughter will be isabella. she could any be izzy or bella. i hate izzy so we are going to call her bella. usually whatever first name you call your child is the one that sticks.
i would think jonas would be called joe because usually a soubriquet just shortens the name by sound. and thea could newly be called the with out the "a" sound used so technically it could carry shortened. hope that helps!
Well..my name is Mikayla. I go by Mikie. My brothers given name is Mitchell and he goes by Mitch.
Friends kids:
Andrew---Andy or Drew
Isabella--Bella
Auraelia--Leah
Amelia---Mia
My kids (future)
Lilliana-----Lillian, Lily, Lil, Ana
Alexander----Alex, Xander
My brother's name is Justin William, and for short we took the first post of the two and called him JW for the better part of a decade
My son's name is Christopher...and until he started school it be Christopher...if you tried to shorten it he'd tell you his name's not Chris it's Christopher...he's always had some sort of handle though whether it be Bubba, bratface, handsome, or the family nick of Topher. He does get call Chris now at school and it drives me crazy.
Well I don't hold kids but my parents worked hard to avoid giving us names that would result in nickname. I think the whole giving a name merely so it can be shortened into a nickname idea is silly as well. Of course everyone have some family nickname (we often hail as my middle brother by his Hebrew name for some reason) or nicknames given by friends that are unrelated to their given name. I'm adjectives for nickname proofing to avoid stupid or cutesy nicknames.
On a completely unrelated note, and evidence of how confidently stupid nicknames pop up, we named our cat Horatio, which one might think is impossible to shorten. Not so! We recurrently call him Raishy.
Me and by brothers are called by nickanems (kinda)
My pet name is Rebecca, but I only go by Becky.
My first brother is Luke, he usually goes by Lukie, but he hate ;]
Jordan is the youngest and he goes by, well, Jordan, but I call him J.D. because those are his inicials.
I sort of did the conflicting. I focused more on avoiding names with NN's I dislike. I like Cynthia but can't stand Cindy. Same go for Stephen/Steve, Kathleen/Kathy and Thomas/Tommy. I went with Anthony John (Tony is fine), and Angela Grace.
Neither of our kids' names lend themselves to nicknames.
However, we give the name them Ummy and Lorg, or Umser and Waldorf, or any of a number of other family names. It be startling to hear their friends at college use their real names, which we rarely hear.
If people want to they can find nickname in just about any identify. I'm expecting in December and the names I've picked out are fairly soubriquet proof. (Anna if a girl, Soren for a boy).
Answers: We actually name our daughter because of the nickname!
We liked "Addie" but disliked that it sounded like a short designation. Then decided to go with "Addison" to make longer it. Didn't know that name was so darn popular until after she was born. Shoulda gone beside Addilyn. Haha. Oh well :)
I ahve a 13 month old name Brianna and we call her Bri.
My daughter who is 11. Called Megan. Can go by heaps names, she likes Maggie or Mac (MAC are her initials) but people ring up her Meg/Megs/Megsi.
It is not up to us (parents) what our children get nicknamed. Thea could get Tia. Jonas might obtain Johnny. Who knows?
I am pregnant with a girl. We have fixed on either Macie-Leigh Jade or Jessica Jasmine Roya.
If she is called Macie-Leigh, she could get abundant nicknames, Lacey. Macie. Leigha, Mimi? Again WHO KNOWS?
If she is Jessica she might get JJ, Junior (JR) Jessie, Jess, Essy, Jazzy, Roya, Jasmine? We never know, its just what comes near instincts.
