Any nice abbreviation for Margaret?

my mum's name is margaret and i was considering it for a middle name if i enjoy a daughter (we're currently trying to conceive).
only thing is, im not too keen on margaret and mum suggested using a shorter short form.
so far we've only come up with Meg.don't really like mags/maggie, too infirm.
any ideas?
Maggy
i don't mean to be rude or offend you, but, if you don't resembling the name then why use it?, seems silly to me, also, if it is a middle moniker why do you need to think of a shorter version, won't your daughter be call by her first name? meg is usually short for megan, but it's still nice. maisey? midge?
Greta or Meg is fine

maybe Megan?
Well short of the usual Meg, Mags, Maggie I'm not sure there are any...surely if it is a middle identify you can use Margaret - I mean, how many people if truth be told use their middle names??

If you really don't want to use Margaret, why don't you see if there are foreign equivilants??

my grans name is margaret and i also wanted to christen my child after her, but the first name.
I called her macey. Maisy is the proper short form of margaret, but it was too childish for me. So we call her Macey.
Garet is a nice contemporary female middle given name,
Margie, Retta, Gara, Marie, Ara, Gareta
My friends real dub is Margaret Lee Ann but she goes by Marlee. (:
i used to have this friend that everyone just ended up calling retty..? similar to a nice casual springy name :)
Margie
Greta
Marge
Peggie
Peg

I think for a middle term it's fine to use the full Margaret though in honor of your mom, you won't be saying her name that much and I'm sure it would scrounging a lot to your mom.
Greta?
Answers:    I love the idea of using a version of your mom's describe. Personally, I think Margaret is very pretty, and it's just the right amount of formal to nouns good as a middle name. But if it's not to your taste, here are definitely other options.

Meg and Maggie feel too nicknamey for use as middle name. Since middles names are used mainly in formal contexts (like on diplomas and such), I presume it sounds best to bestow a middle that sounds fairly substantial and can stand well on its own.

Some of Margaret's variants:
Greta
Gretel
Gretchen
Marguerite
Margareta (mar-gar-AY-tuh)
Margery / Marjorie (love this one!)
Mairead (not sure how to pronounce this... I don`t know MAYR-id? muh-RAYD?)
Megan
Margot (pronounced MAR-go)
Marita (the Finnish form; sounds very current)
Maisie (MAY-zee; perhaps too nicknamey as a middle, but I like it)

And two other design:

Daisy -- this is an old nickname for Margaret, as the French form (Marguerite) is also the French word for the daisy flower

Pearl -- Margaret means "pearl," so you could honor your mom by using a mark with the same meaning. Pearl have a cute, retro vibe and it would sound lovely with the right first name.

Good luck, and I hope this give you some ideas! Source(s): A list of Margaret's nicknames and international variant:

marie margie may peggy
there are a million:
Marge
Greta
Griet
Daisy (La marguerite is French for daisy)
Meg/Megan
Marguerite
Margot
May
Maisie
Midge

You could also use Pearl, which is what Margaret means.
GAZ lol.
