Adoption: MAPP classes?
Prior to adopting through the state one must take MAPP classes. Are these availble privately so that one can take them around their work programme? Also, do they offer these online anywhere?
Locally, it's a 10 week program from 6-9 which I could attend but my husbands work schedule might not always work around. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
Nope. We took MAPP classes within Los Angeles County seven years ago. Dates and times were set and that was that. If you can't make the time within your schedule to take a 3 hour long class for six weeks, then a child is probably going to be too much trouble for you.
here in Wisconsin we also have to take them but it might have had a different describe. I too don't know if they offer private ones but perhaps in a different county they contribute daytime ones. Some areas have them a few Saturdays where you go for 8 hours at once. Some agencies don't adopt the online ones as they feel you need the group, personal think.
Answers: I'm not sure if they are offered privately but would suggest discussion to the people who run them. My friend is in the process of becoming a foster parent and eventually adopting. Her and her husband have the same issue with his work schedule. They be told as long as one of them was at each meeting it be fine. They both need to attend some but if her husband can't make some due to work they were fine beside it. May be similar in your area.
