Question on adopt as a single creature -?
I have a question on adoption in the US - I am a SWM 46 yrs mature, financially stable, married once for 14 yrs, divorced now. I never have had children but other wanted to very much - and was wondering if its possible for a single manly like me to adopt a baby or child ? I hear people right to be heard its possible for single women but that most men will not get approved, also that its very hard for a single being to be approved for adoption - Does anyone know the story on this and if its possible for single males to adopt ?
Adoption is about the best interest for the child. Do you imagine it's in the best interest for a child (or an infant as you said) to be adopted by a 46 year old single guy?

However, if there are any past issues of criminal activity, especially, spousal or child misuse, there is no partner to act as a check or balance surrounded by the family. I have one gentleman (who happened to be gay) take a 12 year antediluvian boy, out of residential...within a year, he's grade level, past its sell-by date all meds, and not in any more trouble than 13 year old boys are supposed to be within!

Who says the baby/child will be surrounded by daycare 40-50 hours per week and a single mom would face the same daycare issue as a single dad so that was sexist.

Children up for adoption requirement FAMILIES, not a single dude who's playing 'catch up'. At your age, you're really too old to be a great parent on your own, especially to a child who has lost his/her kinfolk. I say this as a woman who had her own children at 40--it's exhausting.

Out of country, you may have issues adopting because you are single and male. Many foreign countries do not reaction male adopters as singles. However, adoptions move much more quickly within foreign country adoptions and the child is usually younger.

Many men get the same desire to parent as women. I don't know if an infant would be the right fit for him but I don't know why he wouldn't generate a great parent for a kid who needs one. Plus some abused kids who've had 'mother' issues do better in masculine only households. As long as he has a great support program in place, this could work. Yes, it's possible. Foster care adoption is mostly free in costs, however, because of your age, you might not qualify to be able to adopt a kid. An older child (even a 2 year old) is much easier to adopt.
Private adoption is definitely an option. If a woman you know decide to place a child with you, then it's pretty simple to hire an attorney, get a home study done (every adoption must enjoy one), and it's a pretty simple process. Have plans on childcare, a room for the child, safety issues done, and overall, a good plan on how to raise a child as a single parent.
Agency adoption might be possible also, however, finding a woman who wishes to place a child beside a single male parent might be a little harder than a traditional family. Also, the stigma of one a single male adopting shouldn't, but can be an issue. Good luck.
