My wife and I are interested contained by adoption, but our concerns are:?
how prior divorces and our age will effect our chances. We have already raised wonderful children, but we still enjoy a lot of love and care to offer.

Divorce - A lot depends on the specifics of the divorce(s) and the state of your current marriage. If the divorce be relatively amicable and you can show your current marriage is solid, then it shouldn't be a problem. If the divorce is recent, if there hold been several, if there were accusation of abuse, etc., and/or the current marriage is relatively recent, then you may enjoy a problem.
Age - My wife and I are in our early 40s and were competent to adopt a 2 and 4 year old (brothers) from foster care. Our age was never a problem. Almost everyone within our 'foster parent' classes was at least in their mid-30s, some within their 50s. Also note, I am relatively healthy, but my wife has medical problems (managed through medications) and it still wasn't an issue.
I found an interesting article on older parents trying to adopt. It's not very hopeful but it might confer you more to think about (although I'm sure you've given this a lot of thought already.)

It depends on your ages, and how long you have been married to respectively other. Most agencies do a combined age. (usually 85-90 each state is different) The reason is so a child does not have to lose another parent.
You would generate great parents to kids who are a little older, as you already have experience. Check out your local Department of Family Services.
Adoption places have different rules. You would have to talk to them.
I don't deliberate that divorce or your ages will affect you. As long as you are in good health no criminal setting and sufficient finances you should be able to adopt. I found a sit that explains the legalities of adoption and divorce and they also provide free consultations.

Most states require a homestudy to be done by a shrink or social worker. Find out who would be assigned you (probably based on zipcode or county) and then ask to speak to that person. It may cost for an appointment, but you would achieve a majority of your questions answered in one fell swoop, Even if you don't get the actual caseworker, you'll obtain the people who are responsible for making the recommendation to the authorities. I doubt that previous marriage would be a factor. Age over 40 could be a factor but I think that varies with agencies. I agree next to another poster that an older child from foster care might be a good conception.
Answers: How more or less adopting a older child from foster care? I expect their is more of an age limit on infants and toddlers but you could adopt an older child or teen from foster care if you want to provide love and guardianship that really needs a new home.

Why not become foster grandparents to teens contained by foster care?.
How something like checking out the foster/adopt program that the state agency has. Infants and toddlers---kids from birth to 18 are placed in foster care and some of the infants and toddlers come available to adopt. In Illinois 97% of adjectives adopted children are adopted by their foster parents. Age would be a discriminatory factor--if you meet the other requirements age is not a factor---divorce is looked at but is not a factor to be concerned next to. If you think you might be interested please look into foster care. Foster parents are always needed. And the kids don't forget your loving nurture .
One of our little girls came today to visit us and she never forgot a thing. We love her dearly. We have her in care 3 yrs and she left when she be six and now she is 14. I will see her a lot this summer. She thinks we are wonderful Grandparents and she told us at smallest 2 dozen times she loves us ---and we told her the same. God bless you!
