Please appropriate a moment to read this if you hold any information about a Ga. adoption.?
Okay, This is a complicated matter and it may take me a few moments to fill you surrounded by, But I will do my best and Thank you ahead of time for being patient and taking the time to read this.
My brother was married and they succeeded to hold 2 children. Both my brother and his (now ex wife) are "special". There children got taken away by DFCS and my brother was arrested for a felony. Since then, they own divorced and his ex wife has recieved custody of there children once again. She is still in a "60 morning grace period".
My brother wants nothing to do with the children as he can not run care of them and he wants to sign his rights away. His ex wife has once again proved to our loved ones that she is not capable of raising these babies, (due to the things she does to them, abuse, slackness, and just her not caring or being competent to understand how to learn or take comfort of them.)
My husband and I would love to adopt these 2 little boys, as both my brother and his ex would gladly let us. But the situation is, we do not know where to start. If any one could compress us in on the steps, or procedures to becoming the legal guarguardians of these 2 little boys, any info at all would be exceedingly helpfull. I will be 21 in September and my husband is 22. I know we meet Ga. age requirements. But thats about adjectives I know with the requirements. Thank you so much and I will also add that my husband and I are unable to concieve our own children and we adjectives ready love these children as if they are our own. I also am aware that in the state of Ga. there are assistance programs, such as benefits near food and medical bills for the children, also any information on this would be helpful. thank you again.
Answers: Contact Social Services about this. They would be your first stop. Most states would prefer to place children with clothed relatives than stick them into foster care. They will often make allowances for closely including age, so I don't think that is a problem.
To get the best and most educated information you should call your local family court or your local Dept of Social Services.
