Any information on adopt a toddler surrounded by Sri Lanka?

My husband and I are of Sri Lankan origin but were both born and brought up in England. We want to adopt a babe (from Sri Lanka). Does anyone have any experience of this and can you give me any details or tips?

We already know how the process works in England (we will hold a home study and need a lawyer etc). But do you have any hypothesis how long the wait is for a baby? How long you need to spend surrounded by Sri Lanka? etc etc.

Also if we know a family in Sri Lanka who want us to adopt their baby, how is the process different? Do we still involve a home study? and what legal requirements are there when the adoption takes place?

Any adjectives information would be much appreciated. Thanks.
