Is anyone used to beside this agency?
"Family Services of Greater Vancouver".
when i talked to someone there yesterday, they said that they are not in support of closed adoption, but will support varying degrees of openness when screening prospective parents. they said that if i want no contact, they still encourage birth parents to distribute and receive letters, and providing plenty of info for the child. they also told me that they have a bunch of programs to help women parent their own child, and suggested that any way, i take the life skills program that they own there, offered for free.
i don't plan to parent, but it makes me feel better that they are not forcing the issue. have anyone had any experiences with this agency? As much as i didnt wnt an open adoption, i seize the best vibe from these people. any thoughts?

you're the first mom, right? I focus open, or an option to open is biddable. Our adoption (i'm the A-mom) is technically open because we have full names and contact info. However the first mom doesn't want contact. I can see her point if this means of access is easier for her. However this way she is able to get surrounded by touch with us if she wants to. She could try the agency too, but you never know if an agency will be around in 5, 10 or 15 yrs. From my point of landscape I would like an open adoption, but feel the choice should be hers.
I haven't hear of your agency though. I adopted in the US. Good luck with everything.
Answers: A woman I worked with a few years ago went through FSGV. You are right; they are BIG on unfold adoption. They tell PAPs (prospective adoptive parents) right in the beginning that if they are mortified with open adoption, that it might be best for them to go elsewhere.
They also really do try to uplift women to parent, which is good in situations where money is the solely reason someone is considering relinquishing. At least it gives them another substitute.
Their life skills program is very good. The same managing who runs that also runs new parent groups where I live. Please take it, any way. You really will get a lot out of it, especially given your relations situation. It's not specific to parents. It deals with life skills--identifying and address feelings, goal-setting and confidence. ANYONE can benefit from a life skills course.
Good luck with everything. Source(s): Adoptee/Adoptive Mom/Foster Mom
No I haven't but it sounds like a very polite place to access. We should check if we have a similar version in Ontario.
All the best.
