Intercountry Adoption Colombia or another country?
Hello, my husband and I want to adopt two siblings in Colombia because my husband is Colombian.
We want to know whether to hire an international adoption agency, can not be taken for free and without intermediaries.
And what is the cost of taking in Colombia.
There is another country that allows parents hold 25 years onwards and that the process is less than 2 years as Colombia.
Thank you very much for your help.
Answers: I used to deduce that going without an agency was the way to turn, since it is cheaper, but the more I am learning about adoption, I think it's much safer to enjoy an agency. There's so much human trafficking going on in adoption and having a agency at least help with that.
The total cost is going to be around $20,000, which is about the lowest you are going to find with international adoption, unless you do something approaching Haiti or Liberia, and then you're really taking a huge risk.
As far as another country that would be shorter than 2 years, there really isn't one that's legit, unless you choose a child from a waiting child list, and that may be lately perfect for you since you want sibling. We are adopting from the Philippines. We chose two boys from the waiting child list and our entire process will own taken less than one year. The big plus with them is that you only own to be there one week, as opposed to 6 weeks in Columbia (that would really get your cost high). You do have to be 27 to adopt from there though. Check out www.holtintl.org. They have alot of information and some waiting children listings.
