Free/ Cheaper Adoption Home Study?
I would like to adopt a child from my own country-a war affected child.
I am contained by NYCity. I am a ciizen of US. Can any one give me details of a free or cheaper home study contacts? How much it will cost for me? All the works in my country I can handle. Please direction me.
I don`t know try an child from an disrupted adoption that is now in the USA or foster supervision.
it could be harder because he/she may have severe attachment issues after being part of a disrupted adoption.
(Just out of curiosity, when did NY and/or the US become war torn? You said you be a US citizen and you wanted to adopt a child from your own country, a war affected child. I must enjoy missed that headline on CNN outlining the thousands of war displaced children in the US due to the recent hostilities.)

In my opinion you are setting yourself up for bomb. If you are looking for a cheap way to do a home study and you are doing things in your home country yourself.how are you going to ensure that things are done up to standard to allow you to bring the child to NYC? Its not as easy as adopt overseas and then showing up at the Embassy and saying that you want a passport or visa for the lil one so that you can just come put a bet on to the US and be one big happy family.
Your best bet, your safest bet and your SMARTEST bet is to consult with an agency that deal with adoptions from that country or at least an adoption attorney that specializes in international adoptions. It's not as easy as you appear to think. You can do all the stuff you want overseas but that won't help you next to the domestic portion of the process.

Answers: There are no free homestudies. You must use a licensed social worker and they don't work for free.
Our HS cost around $1500 almost 3 years ago. Then the follow up visits were around $250.
The just way to get a free homestudy is to adopt from foster care. My homestudy cost $1200 (through an agency).
ETA: Department of Human Services, or doesn`t matter what the local state agency is called in your area.
Is the country you want to adopt from part of the Hague convention? If it is, you HAVE to use an agency. Even if its not, there no such article as a cheap international adoption.
