How should I explain to my teen son why it's not cool to sign up a gang?
He thinks it's cool to join a gang in charge to rebel from the family {AM} I am trying to tell him that the gang will CONTROL him.
this is the worst question ever.
Make sure that he knows that most gangs are run as strict as the army with worse punishments. But don't newly tell him, that would lessen the effect. Leave out some print outs on gang violence, the tattooing, disfigurements, etc. Also make sure to ask him how he would plan on getting a girl while stuck within a gang. Chances are he hasn't thought this out very much. I had a friend join a gang, they later proceeded to beat up every single person he cared give or take a few. When he tried to quit he was ran over. He didn't die thankfully, but he did hold to move out of the state.
Also, while this may sound odd, take him to a tattoo/hair/piercing store. And permit him pick something out. It's not as cool when you will let him do it. So making it obvious that you will allow somethings rather than others may facilitate a bit. And if he does choose something, like a mohawk or something else odd. Try to be understanding, he requests to be different and unique, and he's having trouble finding his place.
Try sticky facts questions maybe. You ask a question on a sticky facts, thus showing him your question, but not making him obligated to answer it.

Tell him that they kick the living **** out of you to soar you in, once you're in you get forced to commit crimes and do things that you don't want to do. they provide you instructions and rules. and if he ever decides that he wants to move on and idk get hold of a real life then he'll enjoy to be jumped out(that's if he's lucky because they might just decide to wipe out him. Once your in, they are not likely to let you out)

you could always talk to police and depending on where you live they could lift him to a prison to show him what gangs do ect.

Don't scare him just detail him you'll *** kill him if he does. Just kiddin. Tell him that they do bad things and he dosent want to be involved in that.
