Do you deduce I am rude or racist?

We were in summer school (not because I didn't study but to skip a course subsequent year I took it during the summer) and having a class talk about see. I was the only black kid in the class, so a girl asked me, "what do black culture like to be called black or african american"

I said this, "I like to be call american because I am not from african decent. I was born and raised surrounded by America and so was my family. I also don't think you should telephone all black people Americans because I don't represent all blacks and I don't know what everyone like to be called."

I also told her not to ask me questions for the entire black race. She get mad at me and called me racist for not standing up for my race!

I a moment ago dont think I should speak for everyone. Like we took a friggin vote and elected me to speak for blacks.
You were not racist or rude, the person talking to you is probably romantic and when you presented her with no easy, ready-to-use race formula to fit surrounded by her comfort zone she freaked out and made her problem about you instead of using reason to understand your point. Her inability to figure out or at the very least listen to your answer in a polite posture is her problem, not yours.
No you're not being racist at all. And it's not your job to shield the entire black race because you can't. It's impossible to stand up for billions of people and different blacks like to be call different things. Some like being called American, some close to being called African American, and some like to be call black. Myself being mixed I like to be called by my first name but if you must, I prefer to be called mixed.

And you should have asked the girl if she stands up for her whole see.
Answers:    look . that was in no type of method racist or rude .
If anything she was the rude/racist one .
I agree with you and would do the same piece Source(s): best answer ?
You were actually man really mature. Your class is filled with a bunch of freakin idiots. Your not rude, or racist. How could you be racist for discussion about your own race? But thats what YOU believe, what you think, nowhere contained by there was a racist comment/remark. That girl was an unconscious idiot, so was the teacher for allowing the class to take a vote for someone to speak for here own race. Some black people like man called african american. But, hey, thats them. They are idiots, and you were being really fully developed.
Dude your fine what she said was wrong, I agree next to you.
But sometimes y'all can be over sensitive, I got called racist because I ask one of my black friends if he have tried the new kfc grilled chicken. Just making a simple conversation, and I got called a racist white cracker by his girl friend. :l
No. Man, some people don't even know what racism is anymore. In my class, if I said that I saw a black kid who looked like the black version of my relative, they christen me racist for calling him black. But...that's what he is. And I'm white...and yellow (lol Asian and Caucasian)
Where my dad works, the only TRUE African-American, is white.
No, she was being racist and rude !!
What the hell?
No you are not racist.

People telephone call black people african american because I guess somewhere down the line they got their skin color from someone born within africa. But thats not always true, they could have been a slave surrounded by England or somewhere

And if that rule applies then white people should not be called "Caucasian" we should be call "European American"
I think your stance be very mature..

sounds like the girl be looking for a fight anyways with the question and when you responded beside maturity that made her even more mad..

your not rude or racist
I honestly think you were being taking a grown stance, your opinion was smart and well thought of. That girl who call you "racist" obviously has a one track mind.
nope.
blah. i find you just plain annoying. i have it in mind , i find the other girl annoying too, i mean who would ask that?
WOW What Kind Of School Do You Go To For Someone To Take A Vote To Speak For The Blacks. That's Messed Up.You Did A Good Job Standing Up For Yourself Saying I'm American. We Was Getting In A Discussion In Class One Day And They Was Calling Me White. So I Tell Em' Why Can't We Just Be People And They Just Shut Up.By The Way You Were Never Racist.
They did vote. but 3/5ths didn't verbs through :/
You are not a racist whether you stand up for your race or not. You are a racist if you treat other races as inferior. She shouldn't have lost her bad feeling or accused you of racism.
You call yourself black in your cross-examine.
You say you are of "American" descent.
Your race is not determined by where you (or your parents) be born or raised.
Your parents were born and raised within America and possibly your Grand Parents and even your Great Grandparents but somewhere, sometime a direct descendant of a black race (and probably an African race) came to America
The Native Americans are the single race of completely American descent.
how was your comment to her racist
she is dumb
